ACCOMMODATION
Local volunteers have set up a free house-matching service, loosely based on AirBnB, where locals who have houses, appartments, rooms or other forms of accommodation available to host our guests, can be paired up with IRONMAN staff, contractors, athletes and supporter groups.

All we ask is that you make your guests feel the Irish Céad Míle Fáilte and if they are competing that you might become their support crew on race day...be it on The Hill or anywhere else along the route.
There is guideline pricing to cover your costs, our volunteer will put you in touch with the ideal guest fit for your space, location and pricepoint. We do not charge a fee for this service and any details you share with us are treated in the strictest confidence.

While we do have a lack of hotel and guest house accommodation here in Youghal/East Cork, this type of accommodation is not the most suitable for athletes attending an event like IRONMAN but self catering/homestay is a more-suitable solution.
What hotel would allow you use their kitchen to make up your race-day nutrition, what menu will have the food that you have trained on and now depend on for your race-day health? What hotel will give you a solid athlete's breakfast at 3am on race day? What hotel will drive you to race start and collect you afterwards?
Homestay and self-catering is the preferred and most suitable style of accommodation for athletes of all abilities and group sizes. In Youghal our homestay athletes have in recent years been spoiled rotten by their host families attending to their every need in the days leading-up to the event and even togging out as personal supporters of their guests along the course in rain (and we've had that!) shine, early and late.
We THANK all who have opened their homes and appartments t our athletes, supporters and their staff - this is what makes our event famous in triathlon circles all over the world.
